Our Background

The foundation for CIIPA (Germany) was laid in 2012 during the second Sino-German government consultations. Following these meetings, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China declared their shared intention for further strengthen the economical activities between the two countries. Against this background the decision was taken, to create a Chinese investment promotion agency in Germany, to intensify the bilateral investments between Chinese and German enterprises.

The opening ceremony of the China International Investment Promotion Agency (Germany) then took place on 10 October 2014, hosted by the Chinese Commerce Minister, Hucheng Gao, and the German Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, Sigmar Gabriel.
